Carters Steam Fair

Ford AA

No. 7

This vehicle was new in 1932 and is possible one of the last vehicles from the Old Trafford plant. It has had several owners including Showman Teddy Plattey of Banbury, who sold it to Sir John Smith (Shottesbrooke Steam Fair 1964 fame) in the sixties. Carters then brought it from Sir John in 1967. In 1996 we undertook a complete cab rebuild, which even included the doors. Once again in 1997 more work was completed. The rear body was altered to accomodate the Candy Floss barrow, and the whole vehicle was converted to become the Candy Floss support vehicle and carries sugar, sticks, bags etc. Our Ford is thought to be the oldest working vehicle within the Fairground world, and possibly the country. It also tows the fair organ for the Gallopers on a weekly basis.
