We’re bringing good old-fashioned family fun to your doorstep with our 2020 vintage funfair tour.
Bring the family along to experience unique vintage fairground rides dating from the 1890s to the 1960s and they can enjoy classic side-stall games like Hook-a-Duck too. Don’t forget to bring your camera – our beautiful fair has been featured in Oscar-winning The Theory of Everything, Paddington 2, Call the Midwife, the Netflix series Fairground Attractions and various other pop music videos and shows. It’s a perfect opportunity to make memories and get some timeless family photos of everyone having fun.
What’s new for 2020?
This year is a special year for us – we will be celebrating our 40th funfair at Pinkneys Green in Maidenhead. Our Pinkneys Green event coincides with the Friday bank holiday on May 8th for VE day.
We will be marking this double anniversary with our biggest event ever- not only will you be able to see the fair powered by the finest working steam engines in the UK, but across the three-day weekend we’ll be celebrating all things 40s and vintage with free fireworks, retro themed fancy dress and some extra vintage themed live bands and entertainment. There will also be our traditional vintage road run and we are hoping to be joined by some extra special guests. You can read more here.
Signwriting Festival Returns
Last year we launched our first ever signwriting festival alongside the fair at West Wycombe to help showcase the traditional skills of signwriting that we use to decorate the fair. Come and see for yourself on the 11th and 12th of July and grab yourself a unique piece of hand-painted art in our charity art auction on Sunday 12th at 3pm. You can see what we got up to at last year’ signwriting festival here.
New location confirmed in Clevedon
The summer holidays may seem like a long way off but we are excited to bring the fun of the fair to Salthouse Fields in Clevedon for the August Bank Holiday weekend on the 29th-31st of August.
Vintage vehicle road runs and guided history tours
Back by popular demand are our vintage vehicle road runs and guided art and heritage tours of the fair. Check out your local event page below to see what’s on in your area.

My town isn’t listed, when will Carters Steam Fair visit near me?
We’re always asked if we can visit particular towns (hello friends of Carters up north!), but the truth of the matter is that our vintage vehicles are just not designed to travel huge distances at great speeds. If we were to head for Scotland it might take us a week or two to get there!
If you’re not sure which event is closest to you then our handy ‘find a fair’ map on our visit page allows you to search by postcode or location.
